Among the circulating rumors is the one that relates Yu's possible girlfriend, actress Kan Xin, to the conspirators who are behind the death of Yu.
Yu Menglong met his end when he fell off a luxury building in Beijing. The police called it quits, claiming it was an accident after consuming alcohol. Still, netizens and fans think of it as a conspiracy. Reportedly, the number of suspects has increased from six to seventeen, including Kan Xin. Many on social media assert that a girlfriend spy was placed in Yu's life to monitor and inform of the moves made regarding the personal investigation. Most people believe that Kan Xin was the one who leaked the news about Yu's investigation.
This incident has already been compared to the case of actor Qiao Renliang who died in 2016. The law also claimed that the case was one of sheer luck for the perpetrators and threw them in the spotlight of the film industry. Independent YouTuber Li Muyang posted 2021 photos of Yu and Kan Xin hand in hand crossing the street. These pictures only fueled the rumor regarding an affair between the two.
According to Vision Times, when Kan Xin got nominated for the Golden Rooster Award in 2022, the discussion about her relationship with Yu faded away from the internet all of a sudden. In the case of Yu’s new film in 2023, fans’ observations showed that he looked sad and detached. Some argue that such behavior was a result of his psychological struggles. A clip went around on social media claiming that Yu was hurt on the force to obtain information from him. Nonetheless, there is no proof to back this assertion up
Internet users have come across some not-so-recent photos of Kan Xin, where she is pictured with director Xin Chi and producer Cheng Qingsong. It has been reported that on the very day of Yu's passing, Cheng wrote on his social media, Kan Xin and I had plans to go to a show tomorrow and then dine with friends. Nevertheless, the post was gone after just a few hours.
As per the accessible records, Kan Xin's birthplace is Xianning in Hubei Province. She took admission at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music and later worked with the Beijing Wannian Jinhe Cultural Agency. Later, in 1993, she became a shareholder of the Beijing Kaiwen Police Technology Research Institute with a stake of about 8.4 percent.
Director Cheng Qingsong facilitated her entry into the film Luliang Wen Ying (Song of Spring), which led to her being nominated for the Golden Rooster Award. However, the mention of her name in relation to Yu's death is now causing debates in the entertainment sector and bringing to light issues of corruption and power plays in the Chinese film industry.
