Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma directed a biopic on yesteryear Telugu actor NT Rama Rao and titled it Lakshmi’s NTR. The film revealed the phase of NTR's life when he was defeated in elections and found companionship in Lakshmi Parvati. The film released last Friday and received a mixed response from the audience. Lakshmi’s NTR has had a roller coaster ride before its release with numerous controversies marring the film. Eventually, the project sailed through and released on March 29. Now, Varma has announced his next project, which is also a biopic. The film will be based on popular political personality Sasikala, who was a close friend of late Bollywood actress turned politician, Jayalalithaa. Sasikala was a close associate of the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. RGV took to social media and made the announcement tagging it "Love is dangerously political." Check out his tweet here:
Going by his filmmaking trend, Varma might cover the aspect of Sasikala's life, of being cheated by close associates in politics and many more such things. Sasikala was arrested recently in a scam and was put behind bars in a Bengaluru jail. If Varma intends to cover all these aspects, then this biopic is going to be another eye-brow raising film by him.
Varma has been in the middle of a storm after his film Lakshmi’s NTR was stopped from releasing in Andhra Pradesh. The High Court of Andhra Pradesh put a stay order on the biopic and withheld the release in the state as it came right before the elections. The filmmaker has been battling a few politicians in Andhra Pradesh for the release of the film.
