Yash-starrer KGF fared magnanimously in Bollywood not just because of the content, but also because of the way the film was positioned. Marketed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani in Bollywood, KGF earned more than Rs 110 crores only in Hindi and overall approximately Rs 240 crore. And post the humongous success of KGF, Farhan has now bagged the Hindi rights of another South project. Excel Entertainments, owned by Farham Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani, has bagged the rights of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy which features Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. The film is a period action drama and is directed by Surender Reddy. Sye Raa is being bankrolled by Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan who has now locked the deal with Farhan for the Hindi distribution. Going by the scale of the film, seems like the film would have a grand release in Bollywood.
Sye Raa is based on the life of one of India's first freedom fighter Uyyalwada Narasimha Reddy who fought the British. The valiant fighter was hung by the British government in mid 1800s after being captured. Sye Raa, besides Chiranjeevi, also stars Nayanthara, Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep, Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi and Tamannaah in key roles. The film also stars Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan in brief role.
The makers had released the teaser of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy which gave a sneak peek into the look and feel of the film. Chiranjeevi looks majestic in the teaser and fans of the megastar are eagerly looking forward to this magnum opus. The makers are yet to confirm the release date of the film but it is being speculated that the magnum opus will hit the screens in September this year. Watch the teaser of Sye Raa here ICYMI…
