Mohanlal's Drishyam 2 is a couple of days away from its release. And as the release date of the film inches closer, Mohanlal had a trip down memory lane and he opened up on the surprising success of Drishyam. The superstar of the Malayalam cinema opened up on his journey of four decades and more than 300-films. The superstar works relentlessly even after being in the industry for decades. Up ahead of the release of the sequel to his 2013 massive hit Drishyam, Mohanlal opened up on what's keeping him going after so many years and films. In an interview with Indian Express, Mohanlal expressed his feelings saying, "I call it a blessing. I think some unknown energy is helping me."
When asked him about the secret of his success, the Iruvar actor said, "I trust my directors, my scriptwriters and my colleagues and my fans. It is a blessing to be in this magic for the last 43 years. I think the kind of movies I do and the kind of directors I work with should be the secret of my success." When you watch Mohanlal on-screen in any character he has portrayed on-screen, you believe in the character and feel like you are not seeing an actor playing a character. That's his grasp of character which compels you to believe it to be a real person. When asked about his character of Georgekutty, Mohanlal said that he has been able to understand what Georgekutty would feel or make of a situation. "Because it is hard to say what’s going on in his (Georgekutty) mind. He doesn’t show any emotions. He suppresses them," the actor explained.
The superstar also revealed that with Drishyam's release, the cine-goers changed the way they looked at crime thrillers. He states that it is one of the primary reasons why it became such a massive hit was because "the film had love and family bonding in it."
Director Jeethu Joseph recalled that the moment Drishyam was to hit the theatres. He said that he was confident that Drishyam would be a success. However, he agreed that he never imagined the film to have such a mammoth success scale. "I was in shock. We never expected Drishyam will go to this level. After its release, it took about a month for us to realize that this film was going beyond our imagination. And it was remade into other languages and everywhere the film repeated the same success. The real shock came from China, actually. We never expected that. We were all happy and it was a proud moment for Malayalam cinema," added the filmmaker.
