Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman recently released the trailer of 99 Songs, a musical love story that marks the musicians debut as a film producer. It offered a glimpse into the musical world of the film, co-written by Rahman. He also introduced the debutant Ehan Bhat as the film's lead actor who is paired opposite American actress Edilsy Vargas in the musical film which is slated to hit theatres in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on April 16. The audio launch of 99 Songs was held on Friday in Chennai. And Rahman, who appears to be quite serious all the time, was in a playful mood. He hilariously trolled an anchor for speaking in Hindi while introducing him on stage.
A video from the 99 Songs audio launch has been doing the rounds of social media. In the video, the anchor welcomes AR Rahman in Tamil and then switches to Hindi while introducing Ehan. To which, Rahman gave a surprise reaction and asked, "Hindi?” and walked off the stage with a mic in his hand.
Rahman then asked the anchor, "Didn’t I ask you already if you speak in Tamil or not?” To which, the anchor replied saying that she spoke in Hindi to make Ehan comfortable on stage. Rahman laughed it off and replied, "I was only joking.” And everyone in the audience burst into laughter. The video has now gone viral on the internet.

He learnt to play the piano at our conservatory for a year and is entering the world of cinema as a lead in 99 songs and I hope you love him as we do."
Talking about his debut production venture, Rahman said, "As part of my production company, YM Movies, I'm happy to collaborate with Jio Studios in bringing together this experiential movie. 99 Songs is about one man's struggle against the old and the new world. And the antidote is music."
"It's my pleasure to introduce the film's director Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and a talented cast comprising Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas. It was a great experience working with icons like Manisha Koirala and Lisa Ray, and music legends Ranjit Barot and Rahul Ram," he added.
