Veteran Tamil filmmaker has been admitted to Chennai's Apollo Hospital. It seems it is for some cardiac issues. He has had a history of heart issues. In 2004, he suffered a heart attack on the sets of Yuva. Again in 2015, he was admitted due to reported cardiac problems. He was holidaying in Srinagar, Kashmir when he had chest pain. He flew down to Delhi for treatment. However, the family had kept the matter undisclosed from the public. In 2018, rumours surfaced once again that he was admitted for cardiac problems. However, the hospital said that it was just a check-up and he was sent home after ascertaining his condition. It seems he had complained of chest pain. The filmmaker is one of the most lauded ones in the country.
On the professional front, he is busy with Ponniyin Selvan, which is also facing issues. The film is based on the novel of Amarar Kalki and is based on the kingdom of Raja Raja Cholan. As per reports, Lyca Productions backed out from the project due to unknown reasons. It was reported that Mani was in talks with Reliance Entertainment for the film. It was supposed to be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's fourth collaboration with Mani. The film was supposed to be as big as SS Rajamouli's Baahubali series. Chiyaan Vikram, Amitabh Bachchan, Amala Paul, Jayaram Ravi, Karthi's names were also floating around for the project. The latest is Anushka Shetty is joining the stellar cast.
