Director Shankar's magnum opus is all set to hit screens this Wednesday and all eyes are on I, which is expected to shatter box office records. But can it out do ace filmmaker's previous sci-fi thriller with Rajinikanth, remains to be seen
Director Shankar's entertainers have a special quality about them. Behind all the glitz, glamour and big budget hooplah, there is meticulous planning from the part of the filmmaker, which makes his films inevitably successful. After directing a college caper Nanban, director Shankar is back with a big budget affair packed with stunning visual graphics, that will leave you in awe. I, starring Vikram and Amy Jackson, in many ways will remind you of Rajinikanth-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Enthiran.
With just two days for I to see the light, filmi punters are predicting the film to make big bucks at box office, shattering a few box office records on it's way. But can I beat Enthiran in terms of box office collections? According to Box Office India, Enthiran netted Rs 186.5 crore in India in addition to the overseas earnings of about US $12 million. With total revenues of about Rs 260 crore, this movie is in a league of its own in Kollywood! Though Enthiran was applauded for Shankar's brilliant filmmaking skills, the film owes a lot of it's box office success to superstar Rajinikanth's charismatic presence.
While the makers have left no stone unturned to promote I, a lot will depend on Vikram's star power. With a fantastic opening guaranteed, the real test for I will start only after the end of it's opening weekend. Can I beat Enthiran to become director Shankar's biggest film till date? Only time will tell.
