RRR is one of the most anticipated SS Rajamouli films starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan alongside Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody amongst others. The filming of RRR has been put on hold for a while with only some minor portions remaining to be shot with Alia Bhatt. RRR is scheduled for an October release this year. However, seeing the second wave of the pandemic, a lot of filmmakers and distributors are reconsidering whether to wait for a theatrical release or to opt for an OTT release. There are been speculations that RRR, like many South films, could opt for an OTT release. But squashing all such rumours, Jr NTR has said that the makers are still going all out for a theatrical release.
NTR Jr who plays Bheem in RRR, told Deadline, "RRR was never considered for an OTT release. There are certain films that need to be enjoyed as a community on a large screen. Would you enjoy watching Baahubali or Jurassic Park or Avengers on OTT? No. We never thought about doing that, we were willing to wait for cinemas. We have a ray of hope, we know people will come back to watch films. India lives on movies. We take them very seriously as audiences. RRR is one such movie."
Furthermore, Taark believes that RRR's scale, cast and story have the power to bring the masses and cinephiles back to the theatres. He believes that like with Baahubali, SS Rajamouli can turn RRR into a massive hit as well. The makers are hoping that the pandemic would soon end and they'll still get to release RRR on the decided date which is October 13, 2021.
RRR is said to be a fictional story of two legendary Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, and their journey away from home before they started fighting for their country in the 1920s. How excited are you for RRR? Let us know by tweeting @bollywood_life.
