Time and again, we have said that Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 is expected to shatter every possible record at the box office. And now, it seems like everything is falling in place for the Shankar Shanmugham's directorial. A few days back, the sci-fi venture had set the benchmark by earning Rs 120 crore in the advance booking. It was followed by, like we had told you, it beating Baahubali 2 to become the biggest release in the country. Like that wasn't enough, it went on to set one more benchmark to become the widest Indian release film with 10,000 screens globally. The film is now the biggest Indian release of all-time and that made all Thalaivar and Khiladi fans happy, including us.
However, seems like there's much more to it's favour- fan power. According to a Mid-day report, two fan clubs of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar each have come together to book a leading multiplex in Sion for the first show on Thursday. Reportedly, the 6 am shows across the three screens of the multiplex have been sold out. A a trade source, was quoted saying, "The two fan clubs of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar have booked the PVR theatre in Sion for the first day, first show. Considering the advance bookings are yet to open, they made a special request to the management of the theatre chain and booked the auditoriums. It is not unusual for Rajinikanth's movies to witness 100 per cent occupancy in the morning shows. But this time around, Akshay's fans too have joined in the frenzy."
Kamal Gianchandani, CEO, PVR Pictures, told the same publication, "We have received 100 per cent block booking requests. Since the window opens on Sunday, we will make the advance bookings then. We will give preference to the fans, as we always do in the case of block bookings. The 6 am show on Thursday is going to be house-full for sure!"
With the budget of Rs 600 crore, 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film ever. It will release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions and Karan Johar will present the Hindi version under his banner Dharma Productions. Apparently, it is the first Indian film, which is entirely shot in 3D. Produced under the banner of Lyca Productions, the film also stars Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey in pivotal roles. It is set to hit the screens on November 29.
