Gautham Menon's Yennai Arindhaal release has been postponed to January 29, to avoid clash with Shankar's I during Pongal
Festivals are a great time for films to make merry at box office. And for decades now, Tamil filmmakers have never missed a chance to cash in on the festive mood. This Pongal was supposed to be no different as two big star vehicles were set to clash at the box office. Thala Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal and Vikram's I were slated to lock horns on Pongal,2015, which led to a lot of interest among the fans to witness the epic box office battle.
But alas, the clash of titans at box office is called off, as Gautham Menon's Yennai Arindhaal paves way for Shankar's magnum opus I. Thala Ajith- Trisha-Anushka Shetty starrer will now release on January 29. This gives Vikram's I a big boost at box office as he has only Vishal's Aambala to take on this Pongal. While the epic clash between Ajith's and Vikram's film was touted for months, this last minute delay in YA release seems to be a tactical move to avoid division of screens across Tamil Nadu and abroad.
Even last Diwali, Vijay's Kaththi got a free run when Vikram's I bowed out of the contest. With no real reason to postpone Yennai Arindhaal's release, it makes us wonder if Thala Ajith is scared of Vikram's I and doesn't want to clash head on with Vikram onPongal. As always, the makers of the big films have disappointed the audience yet again, by creating a hype of epic box office clash, and then pulling out of it at the last moment.
