Kamal Haasan celebrated his 65th birthday yesterday, by unveiling his father's bust at Thelichathanallur, near Paramakudi. Kamal Haasan is the founder/leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), and was accompanied by his family members Charu Haasan, sister Nalini, Suhasini Maniratnam, and daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan. They unveiled the statue inside the Makkal Needhi Maiam's skill development center building.
Kamal Haasan's birthday and his father's death anniversary falls on the same date. Haasan paid tribute to his father by garlanding his statue after his brother, Charu Haasan, unveiled the screen. The actor posed with his family for a picture while the MNM song played in the background. Before the ceremony, Kamal Haasan also planted a Neem tree sapling and hoisted the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) flag. Initially, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) wanted the bust to be out in the open in front of the center of the earlier Indian Matriculation School building, but later had to install it inside the building in a classroom after the police denied permission. During the ceremony, pamphlets were circulated, which described Kamal Haasan's father, who was an advocate and freedom fighter.
Shruti Haasan took to her Instagram yesterday to wish her father Kamal Haasan. She posted a picture from the event and wrote,"Happy birthday Bapuji @ikamalhaasan ❤️ such a special birthday marking 60 years of your work in cinema , we get to go back to paramakudi we get to celebrate atthis life as well and most importantly we get to be a part of your very special life :) love you lots pappa."
