Mahesh Babu's much awaited film Maharshi hit the screens today and fans worldover are celebrating #MaharshiDay. And why would they not? The film is the 25th one in the career of the superstar. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, Maharshi also stars Pooja Hegde, Allari Naresh, Prakash Raj and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. The Twitter audience is over the moon and it is evident that the junta is loving the Mahesh Babu flick. Fans have even thanked Vamsi Paidipally for highlighting a burning issue like farmers suicide in the country.
Mahesh Babu plays the role of a college student, a tycoon and finally a farmer. Pooja Hegde plays his love interest. The morning show of the film is over and the verdict on the film is now out. Here's what the critics have to say about Maharshi.
Hindustan Times claims Maharshi has nothing new to offer in terms of story. Giving the film 3 stars, HT critics writes, "It spends a lot of time on establishing the fact that Rishi wants to succeed because he’s afraid of losing. He wants to succeed because he doesn’t want to end up being a nobody like his father. A point that could have been easily made in lesser time is needlessly stretched for close to two hours and the pay-off isn’t event worth the time invested. The film finally takes off in the last hour and it’s this stretch, which is elevated by a strong emotional core, which makes the film work."
The Hans India differs and states the solid story can be considered as one of the major driving factors behind the film. "
has prepared a new script for the film. He has not only took a beautiful story but also laced with equal amounts of comedy, romance, emotions, and some sentiments as well. Notably, some of the emotional scenes are handled exceptionally well, and we can give the entire credit to Vamsi Paidipally for his exciting narration," writes their critic.
Mirchi9 states, "Maharshi is a tedious watch despite noble intentions. The tonal inconsistency and weak writing and roles make the vast majority of the movie unbearable to sit through. Maharshi eventually ends up as a wasted opportunity for a special landmark outing."
"Superstar Mahesh Babu is at his best in younger Rishi role, looked ravishing as CEO. However performance wise, his signature scenes are amiss. Pooja Hegde did her job well, looked beautiful as well. While Allari Naresh is impressive, Jagapathi Babu has been wasted. Prakash Raj, Jayasudha , Sai Kumar like seasoned artists are there but no good scenes for them to perform," writes Telugu360.
Earlier, while speaking about his film, Mahesh Babu had said, "It's a film that has so much to offer. It has a very powerful social message that is well-laced with other commercial elements. I say it's a film unlike anything I've done so far because audiences can easily relate to my character Rishi. The journey of my character will be both interesting and inspiring."
