A lot of speculations have been doing rounds over Nandita Das joining the cast of the Telugu film, Virataparvam. Directed by Venu Udugula, Virataparvam is jointly produced by Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas and Suresh Productions. The film will mark Nandita's return to Telugu cinema after the 2006 National Award-winning Kamli. The actress, who confirmed that she is working on the film, on Twitter last week, says, "Too much speculation! I am doing the film for the script, the director's vision and the role. Had no idea who I was replacing and how does it matter! In Hyderabad, starting to shoot today. Nervous about speaking Telugu! Wish me luck pls!"
"I shot for a film, that too in a language I don't speak after over a decade! But once I was on set, the whole atmosphere brought back the joy of being part of strong stories without having the responsibilities of being the director! It is a short but significant character, a role I relate to. The director and the crew were really professional and friendly, and it was an absolute delight working with Sai Pallavi - an amazing actor and person. I look forward to working with Rana Daggubati in the second schedule," says Nandita.
Based in the 1990s, the film that is currently being shot in Hyderabad sheds light on the Naxal movement, specifically the moral dilemma that prevailed during the decade. The film stars Sai Pallavi and Rana Daggubati. Our sources tell us that Rana plays a Naxalite leader in Virataparvam and his look in the film is something we've never-seen-before. The story of Virataparvam is about a face-off between Naxals and the governing authority in Telugu state. Virataparvam, besides Rana and Sai Pallavi, also stars Priyamani in a crucial role and the actress is yet to begin shooting for the film.
