Multi-faceted actor R Madhavan will foray into direction with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, wherein he will play the titular role as well. Madhavan will be seen stepping into the shoes of Nambi Narayanan who was one of the top scientists in India, falsely charged of espionage and arrested in 1994. The shooting of the film is currently underway and the makers are yet to officially announce the release date. Interestingly, news reports suggest that Madhavan is planning to rope in Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and Tamil star Suriya for a special cameo in the Hindi and Tamil version of the film respectively. Madhavan shares a special bond with both Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya, and it is likely that the actors will agree to appear briefly.

Rocketry will trace the life of Narayanan from the '90s till recently, when he was awarded a compensation by the Supreme Court and a huge sum from the Kerala government. The film will have a multi-lingual release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English. Nambi Narayanan was arrested in 1994 on charges of espionage. However, all charges against him were dropped by the CBI and the Supreme Court in 1996 and 1998 respectively. Narayanan later went on to be a part aerospace history, as he was made a part of the team which made the first PSLV sent to the moon by India.
