The Raju Gari Gadhi series has defied expectations both from the trade and media as the franchise has turned out two successful films in the past. Till date, the audience and critics have never been on the same page with this franchise as despite middling reviews, both films motored on two profitable collections at the box-office. However, Telugu superstar Nagarjuna doesn’t return for the third part, so the film will have to survive on the goodwill of the erstwhile entries and Ashwin Babu alone as this time, too, the critics haven’t taken kindly to it.
Calling it a “cheap comedy” and giving it a rating of 2/5, Greater Andhra said in its review, “The comedy arising out of ghosts and spooky elements have generated few laughs. This pre-climax portion may work with the C center audience and for those who have low sense of humor. The horror portions lack appeal and the romantic track is pretty ordinary. If you are okay with some low quality humor and silly jokes, Raju Gari Gadhi 3 can be passable.”
With 2.25 stars, Mirchi 9 said that the film “all about only one hilarious block”: “Overall, Raju Gari Gadhi 3 offers a few hilarious bits and thrills. But, on the whole, it lacks the impact of the first two. It is the weakest of the three. If you want to watch a horror-comedy that offers routine and predictable fun, give Raju Gari Gadhi 3 a try.”
123 Telugu was a bit more lenient with 3 stars, but still maintained that though the comedy clicks at times, the story doesn’t: “The logic goes for a toss and everything is sidetracked for the sake of comedy which is good. But a better focus on story and content would have made matters even better. The climax is strictly okay as the film is ended In a jiffy.”
E Times also echoed the above sentiment, but was harsher in its review with merely 2 stars: “Raju Gari Gadhi 3 doesn’t terrify at all, but it tries too hard to employ horror tropes like jump scares and sound effects. With a clichéd and predictable storyline in the first half, the film fails at keeping the audience engaged. The forced comedy too doesn’t help nor do the numerous characters thrown in cumbersome situations. Devoid of goosebump moments, the film makes do with some humor”
