Movie buffs of Tamil cinema were treated with a delightful film, Super Deluxe, which is winning hearts all around. Directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Super Deluxe features Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Samantha Akkineni and many other actors. Vijay Sethupathi, in the plot, changes his gender and his portrayal as a woman is receiving laurels from all quarters, including Bollywood filmmakers. However, his act seems to have left the transgender community of Tamil Nadu fuming. In a scene from Super Deluxe, Vijay Sethupathi is captured collecting money from a store-keeper to show his son how he made his living post his gender-change surgery. This act hasn't gone down well with the transgender community. The members of this community are now demanding the arrest of Vijay Sethupathi and stated that they will take legal action in this matter. Although an official complaint regarding this matter is yet to be registered, the community is urging police officials to arrest the actor and file a complaint against the makers of Super Deluxe too.
Vijay plays a character called Shilpa who undergoes gender change surgery. His performance is winning hearts all over and the actor is being hailed for accepting a role which mainstream actors rarely dare to do.

Super Deluxe seems to be the toast of the Tamil film industry at the current moment with some rave reviews from critics and positive word of mouth from audience. An amalgamation of four different stories, Super Deluxe addresses many societal issues which haven't been explored by filmmakers in the past.
