After rumours of Thalaivar collaborating with director Shankar made rounds, it seems like the superstar has finally zeroed in on a script
Kollywood has been buzzing since last night about Superstar Rajinikanth’s next film. According to the latest grapevine, Rajinikanth has chosen the director he wants to work with next and it is none other than Ranjith who directed Attakathi and Madras. Both films were critically and commercially acclaimed. There has been no official press release or statement from anyone regarding this project. However, Masss director Venkat Prabhu may have the let the cat out of the bag and confirmed this news when he tweeted to Ranjith: “u made me real proud Ranjith!!! Whatta moment!! Love u da!! Pinni pedal edu.” The movie is said to be produced by Kalaipuli Thanu but when we asked he asked he said it was a rumour.
But sources say that it will be him producing the film. Rajinikanth was to do a film with Shankar as well with Lyca Productions but any movie with this combo means the film will be two years in the making. Currently, that project looks set to start in early 2016 as pre-production work will take time. So now it looks like Superstar is now looking to make a quick film with a new director and Ranjith seems to be the chosen one. When Rajinikanth saw Madras, he told Ranjith, “super kanna super kalakitta..eppadi kanna ippadi shoot panna..super kanna kalakitta! magizchi.”
As for the story of this Rajini-Ranjith film, people are curious as to what it will be. Ranjith's style of film-making is very real and gritty minus the glam and over-the-top loud scenes. Looks like Rajini now wants a different filmy flavour with a new directorial touch.
