In 2017, Tamil cinema saw the release of a cult classic which changed the dynamics on storytelling, filmmaking and the stardom of the stars in the cast of the film – Vikram Vedha. Directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, Vikram Vedha was a story of a cop and a criminal set in the backdrop of the North Madras with a dark theme. The encounters between the cop and the criminal was the heart of the plot while the blood that ran through the veins of the story were lead actor R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits of Kollywood in 2017 and had a golden run at the movies making it a superhit flick. And as obvious as it was, there were reports of the film being remade in multiple languages were being heard. In Telugu, it was speculated that Venkatesh Daggubati and his nephew Rana Daggubati were approached for the remake, but nothing concrete was heard about it. And the news faded out, it was assumed that Vikram Vedha may not be remade in Telugu at all. But the latest buzz around the film gives air again to fading fire.
News has it that Vikram Vedha might be remade in Telugu with Nandamuri Balakrishna and Rajasekhar in the lead roles. It is being reported that the remake might be directed by the original director duo Pushakr-Gayatri again. However, these are unconfirmed reports and only an official announcement will confirm this development.
Balakrishna is caught up with the upcoming elections since he is contesting from a town in Andhra Pradesh. Rajasekhar is busy with his upcoming film Kalki which is directed Prashanth Varma of AWE fame.
