The trailer of Kangana Ranaut's highly-anticipated Thalaivi was launched yesterday in Chennai and we saw the promo garnering praises from the audience. While fans appreciated Kangana for showing the journey of J Jayalalithaa in the most perfect way, the actress shocked us, when she revealed that director AL Vijay earlier rejected her for the lead role. Sharing the reason, the Dhaakad actress said, "My accent is nowhere close to being right. Tamil particularly is very difficult like Sanskrit. I had done the film now but I don't think he has Okayed the accent till now. While I was on roll, he was still auditioning and told me that I have found a crystal clear accent that I was looking for in Hyderabad. So, obviously, he has rejected me long ago."

She added, when she got the script, he told him, "your voice is a very important part of your personality, and your voice is half of your performace. So you have to learn to speak Tamil." Kangana praised the filmmaker and said, "Never have I met a man who hasn't made me feel apologetic about my talent. I feel so emotional. I'm not usually like that. He is one person who has made me feel good about my talent. Usually, the camaraderie they show with a male hero, they never show with an actress but as a director, I learned from him how to show creative partnership."
Thalaivi, which is set to hit the screens on April 23, also stars Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in key roles. The film is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R. Singh under the banner of Vibri and Karma Media and Entertainment. So, are you excited for the film? Tweet and let us know @bollywood_life.
