The megastar of the Malayalam industry, Mohanlal turns 59 today. Known as one of the biggest names of the entertainment industry, Mohanlal marked his debut in 1978 and his illustrious career boasts of more than 330 films, which itself is a huge achievement. While everyone knows about his superstardom and humongous fanbase, it will come as a surprise for you’ll that in 1984 Mohanlal had delivered 34 films, out of which 25 were clean hits. Before entering the entertainment industry, the megastar was a professional wrestler and also went on to win the wrestling championship in 1977-78 in Kerala. Till now, the actor has been honoured with four National awards, 17 Kerala state awards and 11 Filmfare awards. In fact, he is the only South star to have won an IIFA award for his performance in Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi starrer Company. The Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan had also confessed to being a fan of Mohanlal and hailed him as, "the most realistic actor India has ever produced". Apart from being the highest paid actor of the Malayalam industry, he is among those elite stars who own a house in Burj Khalifa. In recent times, Mohanlal has delivered hits like Kayamkulam Kochunni and Lucifer. Talking about his upcoming films, Mohanlal will be seen in Suriya and Sayyeshaa starrer Kaappaan. It is directed by KV Anand and also stars Arya, Boman Hirani, and Samuthirakani in key roles. The music of the film is composed by Harris Jayaraj, while it is bankrolled by Lyca Productions, who recently produced Rajinikanth's mega-budget venture 2.0.
