Now, the world TV premiere of the film has got a TRP of 18.5. This is huge. These are record TRPs for a film with debutantes. It is a known fact that Telugu audience has an infinite love for cinema. Despite the partial lockdown and restrictions, films like Uppena, Vakeel Saab and Sulthan got love from the audience. Uppena has made over Rs 100 crores at the box-office worldwide.
The film is about young lovers played by Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty. While the actor is from a prominent film family, she is from Kannada. People loved the chemistry between the two. The film also had Vijay Sethupathi as a menacing villain. The presence of Makkal Selvan added a lot of charm to the film. But the biggest draw was the scintillating music by Devi Sri Prasad. The movie has also been shot realistically and beautifully near the coastline of Andhra Pradesh. Uppena is directed by Buchi Babu Sana who is the assistant of Sukumar of Rangasthalam fame. The film is made by Mythri Movie Makers. The makers made it on a lavish budget putting faith in the debutantes. The film is being shown on Netflix.
After seeing his performance, Chiranjeevi gifted Panja Vaisshnav Tej a watch. He has said that Pawan Kalyan and the megastar motivated him to enter the world of acting. Actors like Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu had also lavished love on the movie. Allu Arjun tweeted, "Krithi Shetty has made one of the best debuts for an actress. I truly liked her character and work. The most important to me is my brother #VaishnavTej. I have never seen another hero who has delivered such a wonderful performance for a debut film."
