Actor Varun Tej has joined hands with Gabbar Singh director Harish Shankar for his next project which will have him playing a non-heroic role. The film is titled Valmiki and is an adaptation of Tamil film Jigarthanda which starred Siddharth and Bobby Simha in lead roles. Valmiki will have Varun reprising Bobby's role while Tamil actor Atharvaa will be seen stepping into Siddharth's role. The makers have opted for a different path to promote the film and have released a pre-teaser of the film. The promotional video gives a sneak peek into Varun Tej's character and it is safe to say that fans can expect an entertainer. Varun turns into a menacing gangster and his look has gotten movie buffs speaking on social media. Varun's bearded look is as menacing as the character is and will leave you asking for more. Atharvaa's character was introduced by Varun later on social media and posted a picture of Valmiki. "And I welcome my brother @Atharvaamurali to TFI with #Valmiki[sic]," tweeted Varun along with the poster of Valmiki. This remake will mark the debut of the Imaikka Nodigal actor in Telugu. Varun was last seen in F2: Fun & Frustration which was a multi-starrer alongside Venkatesh Daggubati. The film turned out to be a huge hit in his career and made him one of the most sought-after actors in Tollywood. Varun attempted the comedy genre for the first time in his career with F2 which yielded great results for him. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, F2 also starred Tamannaah Bhatia and Mehreen Pirzada.
