In the last week, we saw a shocking news of Tamil actress and presenter VJ Chithra passing away due to suicide and while we saw the investigation happening in full swing, the latest development comes out that Nazarathpet police has arrested her husband Hemanth for abetting her suicide. After six days of interrogation, he was arrested and produced in Poonamallee court and sent to ponneri jail. The couple had registered their marriage two months back and had planned a traditional wedding January.
Talking about her professional work, Chithra worked as a presenter at various Tamil TV shows and was seen as Mullai in Pandian Stores as well. Her character of Mullai is extremely popular among the audience and she earned a lot of fan following due to her stint. As per the police, VJ Chithra had checked into her room around 1 am on Wednesday after completing a shoot "The hotel manager called the police helpline number 100 about 3.30 a.m on Wednesday. We are currently investigating the cause of her death," a police official from Nazrathpet station told TNM.
Chithra's mother had told TNM, "She was beaten to death… She spoke to me on Tuesday saying she was on a show and that it would be late. The morning her father-in-law called sharing the news. How could it be?" Post the news of her demise, we saw fans expressing their grief on social media. A fan tweeted out saying that nobody can replace her character of Mullai. "Very Talented Dancer & Outstanding Actress. Other people cannot replace your character in #Pandianstores. Rest in peace Chitra (Mullai) Akka. Om Namashivaya," he wrote. Another fan tweeted out asking, "Why Chithu Popular Serial #PandianStores Fame #VJChithra Passed Away By Committed Suicide Earlier Today.. #Shocked #RIP." Our heart goes out to her family, friends, fans and well-wishers.
