Suriya and Mohanlal starrer Kaappaan is one of the highly anticipated Tamil films of the year. While the audience is quite kicked about the high octane action thriller, the film has grabbed the limelight for the wrong reason as writer John Charles has accused the makers of plagiarism. As per The News Minute report, he (John Charle) narrated the written story of the film to director KV Anand in January 2017 but did not got any reply from him. He has now filed a case in Madras Court and has appealed for the interim injunction of the film.
The court will hear the case of John Charles on September as Kaappaan set to hit the screens on September 20. John has demanded the credit of writer and copyright fees from the makers. He also stated that he has more than 10 years of experience in this field. Talking about Kaappaan, the film also stars Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Hirani and Samuthirakani in key roles. The music of the film is composed by Harris Jayaraj, while it is bankrolled by Lyca Productions, who recently produced Rajinikanth's mega-budget venture 2.0.
Suriya was last seen in NGK, which failed to impress at the box office. It was directed by Dhanush's elder brother Selvaraghavan and is bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures. The music of the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while the cinematography is done by Sivakumar Vijayan. It also featured Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet in key roles.
