Sonam Kapoor is as fashionable as they come. The actress who is admonished as a style icon in Bollywood is not only known for her high-end choice but also her street-smart vibe that makes her risque picks work like a charm. Must admit, not many can pull off stuff she dares to wear and with aplomb, while at that. And that's all her credit. One must give some due to her infectious charm too. Apart from her confidence, the Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga actress has never followed trends but is usually the trendsetter, we like to follow! In fact, Sonam Kapoor is all set to cook up some new trends as she is all set to attend the annual and coveted Cannes Film Festival.

That's right, Sonam has confirmed May 20 and 21 for her appearances at the French Riviera red carpet and we can't for her and her unconventional style streaks to make headlines. If you'd recall, even last year she was the talk of the town because of her henna-hands and post-marriage glow and to mention her ring! And something tells us that she is going to sweep them up this time too. At least, her prep is already in place and it's a revelation. No, really; Sonam's nutritionist and Pilates instructor, Radhika Karle has opened up about her fitness and diet regime and here's what she had to say:
What has been the prep in terms of diet and fitness that has Sonam has been following for Cannes?
"Because Sonam is back in India now and it's quite hot and humid here, the new plan is very light, vegetarian plan with loads of fluids like water, coconut water and a concoction of a broken down protein - which is branched chain amino acid which she drinks while she's working out because we don't want to take any chances as far as her stomach is concerned for when she hits the red carpet at Cannes. We're doing a lot of home food as well - sabzi, dal and rice. As far as her fitness regime is concerned, I train with her and we do two types of workouts - pilates (she has the equipment in her home gym) so we work out on a reformer, we work out on what's called a combo trailer and then we do some traditional mat Pilates as well. We usually do that in the mornings and then in the evenings she does weight training followed by some cardio. The cardio could be like an interval training of cardio where she walks for a min, then jobs."

Is there anything that Sonam is addicted to that you need to keep a control over?
"Chocolate. She has this keto chocolate which she's obsessed with which I've completely curtailed."
How often does Sonam want to slide in a cheat meal and is there any way she compensates for the same?
"I'm a firm believer of everything in moderation. I know Sonam now for almost 8 years so we've been training together for quite some time. The aim of the game is to let loose the reigns for maybe one meal and then get back on track. Her cheat meals way back in the day used to be things like French fries but she's moved away from that now and and a cheat meal for Sonam now would be something like Keto coffee or chocolate - so maybe a Keto Mocha Coffee which I really don't want her to be having."
What does her daily diet look like? Any particular items you push her to have more of?
"The one thing we always try to push is fluids. Fluids are a great way to flush everything out of your system and keep you hydrated which in turn make your energy levels high & your skin look good and you don't feel tired and sluggish. So all types of fluids, but of course nothing with too much sugar or preservatives. But as far as her nutrition plan is concerned, she has 3 square meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Her breakfast is usually this gluten free toast with some avocado, maybe some berries, some cottage cheese - if available. During her workout she'll be drinking lots of fluids so water, sometimes a light electrolyte, her aminos. Then she'll have her lunch which is simple home food so sabzi, dal and little rice, some nice summer salad - because it's really hot. In the afternoon she has a small snack which might be something like vegetable sticks with a hummus dip or it might be again an avocado toast. If we've done a heavier workout, I'll have her eat a heartier snack so then it might be something like an open faced vegetable sandwich so that we can push through the workout.

"For her dinner, we really try to aim to get that in before sunset so on a good day it'll be 7 pm. The dinner is similar to the lunch, except we substitute the salad for a vegetable soup. Dinner is usually her last meal."
Is the Cannes physical training for a specific outfit?
"It so far has been general training. I know Cannes involves a lot of high slits and some backless outfits so we're focusing on a lot of leg work. Sonam's back is never an issue, it tones up very quickly, but the upper body workout is still happening but mainly lots of legs."
Does she discuss her outfits with her and they accordingly suggest exercises?
"Fortunately yes, I'm not going to say I have a great sense of fashion but she will give me an idea as to what she would like to wear. I would travel with her to Cannes so she would always be pointing things out and saying "Next year I'll be wearing something like that!" So that would really help. But yes, she does discuss things generally, and give me an idea so I know what to expect."
So, now you know! Gotta say, we are pinning high hopes and expecting the actress to lay us all dead with her lewks. Having said that, we are assuming it will be high-end couture for but honestly, we won't be surprised if Sonam stuck to her favourite from last year and sashay in another customised Ralph and Russo this time around too!
