CID 2 has a huge fan following. The show has won hearts again. The first season still holds a special place in our hearts. It had a successful run for 20 years and when it went off-air, it broke many hearts. Fans kept requesting the makers to bring back the show. Finally, the second season began in 2024 and once again, everyone is enjoying the show. Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, Ajay Nagrath, Aditya Srivastava, Ansha Sayed, Hrishikesh Pandey, Narendra Gupta returned and we got some kickass episodes. However, this season has been full of twists and turns. Shivaji Satam aka ACP Pradyuman was shown dead after the Barboza episode and this left everyone shocked.
Parth Samthaan entered the show as ACP Ayushmaan. However, it was all to find the 'gaddar' in the team who helped Barboza. Shivaji Satam aka ACP Pradyuman returned to the team and it was revealed that Dr. Salunkhe is the 'gaddar'. Post this, we saw Ayushmaan leaving and two more popular characters returned. Janvi Chheda and Shraddha Musale came back as Shreya and Tarika. However, with their return, we saw many more twists.
CID 2 is going off-air?
Shreya's return came with a shock. We saw recently how she and Daya have been doing some planning. Daya is turning out to be the villain and hence, Sanjay Narvekar entered the show as Superintendent Omkar Sawant. However, a few days ago, there were rumours that the show is going off-air.
As per Filmibeat, the show is going off-air due to low TRPs. The various twists and turns could not bring back the numbers and hence, the channel is not happy with this. The production has not been informed yet but internally there are talks about the going being pulled off.
However, the show is performing well for SonyLIV and Netflix and getting them good viewership. Hence, the show might not go off-air. Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 was announced recently and it was being said that CID 2 might go off-air after KBC 17 beings. This is a big story in entertainment news and TV news.
Now, the latest reports in the portal say that these rumours are not truth. A source revealed, "The show is performing well for SonyLIV and Netflix, resulting in decent viewership on OTT platforms. There are speculations about CID 2 ending after Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 launch; however, there is no truth to the conjecture."
