After a rocking premiere episode last night, the second episode of Dance India Dance: Battle of Champions has come out today. Zee TV's flagship dance reality show Dance India Dance has returned to the TV screens with a revamp as Dance India Dance: Battle of Champions wherein the makers have slotted contestants in four different zones and pitted them against each other. The show will also mark the debut of Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan on television. The dancing battle continues in the second episode. We saw the second episode and here's what we thought of it.
What happened in the show
The episode started with the entrance of the judges. Bosco entered dancing on Dus Bahane, Raftaar on Tamanchey Pe Disco, and Kareena Kapoor Khan entered grooving on hit track Bebo. The first one to perform was Kings Squad. They danced on Khalibali and impressed by their dance Kareena said, "If this is the level everybody is in trouble". The next one to perform was Soul Queens from South Ke Thailavas. Show judge Raftaar and mentor Sneha Kapoor shared a moment (they two were partners in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa). Impressed by their dance Kareena danced with the girls. The next to perform was Loyola dream team. They dance on Lungi dance and their performance excites judges the most. "I'm exicted yaar," an elated Kareena cheered. Another highlight of the show was when Raftaar got emotional after watching contestant Hasan's performance and his family background. Bosco even announces that Hasan would now be a part of his team. Kareena also shared how Karishma was asked to not act in the industry since no Kapoor girl ever became an actress.
While the first episode was all about Kareena the second is mostly about performance. We also got to see a lot of background stories of the dancers. The show was high on emotional quotient. Also, Kareena sharing a few trivia like her sister Karishma not being allowed to become an actress and such was quite endearing. And some performances like the Loyola Dream team, were really impactful.
Although the show is quite it does look cluttered. The makers will have to come up with some innovation.
Dance India Dance: Battle of Champions is a decent watch over the weekend.
