Indian Idol 12 grabbed headlines a couple of weeks ago after Amit Kumar, son of late legendary singer Kishore Kumar revealing that he was asked by the makers to give positive comments only to the performances on the show. After his shocking revelation, a lot of people had commented about the show and his statements as well. Even Aditya Narayan, the host of the show had defended the channel saying that he shouldn't have agreed to it if he had a problem. Even Manoj Muntashir had criticized Amit Kumar for his statements. Now, previous season judges and acclaimed singers Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan have also talked about how the standard of Indian Idol has fallen down over the years. It seems Amit Kumar has been trolled on social media and is facing backlash for his comments. Sonu Nigam has come out in support of the senior member of the music industry. He has asked the makers of Indian Idol 12 and people in general to put an end to this whole controversy. He also said that it is nobody's fault in the end.
Sonu Nigam dropped a video on his Instagram handle and said, "Nobody can do justice to Kishore Kumar songs. His son Amit Kumar is a great man and he has seen this industry much more than us. He is a very quiet and dignified person. He is not saying anything and you are taking undue advantage of this. I want to tell the Indian Idol team to end this controversy. There’s no fault of Amit ji and Indian Idol as well,"
He explained that the makers are not wrong in asking someone to encourage the contestants. He also commented on Aditya Narayan and Manoj Muntashir's comments on the same. He asked them to deal with the matter in a dignified manner. "I want to even tell Manoj Muntashir and Aditya to not say anything about Amit Kumar. He is a senior and we should maintain that respect for a senior. if a senior criticise you, you don’t take offence, you think about where you went wrong and you improve yourself," he said. Last but not the least, he asked everyone to "Leave Amit Kumar Ji alone," as he praised the contestants of Indian Idol 12.
