The youngest composer on the block Amaal Mallik has made his TV debut as a judge with Zee TV's next season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs. A few days ago the singing reality show went on-air, the team gathered for a launch party which also saw the judges crooning live on stage. In an exclusive conversation with BollywoodLife, Mallik sat down for a conversation. The young composer is quite clear of what he wants from his stint in the series. "My vision is to find such talents that would find worldwide fame," he said. "I'm going to impart my knowledge to them. Being on the show puts me in a position to be like an elder brother to the contestants. Sometimes they even try to touch my feet, but I ask them not to do that. I'll be blunt but I'll guide them," he further added.
What is adding another dimension to Amaal's TV debut is that his younger brother Armaan Mallik is also making his TV debut with another show on a rival network, "a proud moment for " their parents. "I love competition. Both of us have always competed against each other since childhood, and now the rivalry will be on the national TV," an elated senior Mallik said. He further explained how the competition won't be direct since "the time slots are different", however, there is no way that the TRP fight could be shrugged off. "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is a show that wants to win hearts and not views. I have told him to get ready since I'm going to give a tough competition. There's no rivalry but yeah just healthy competition."
When asked if he would have said yes to being a part of any other singing reality show that airs on rival channels, Amaal replied that he had made his "choice" even before he was offered Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. "The honesty and innocence of this show makes it different from others. I also don't believe in gimmicks and this show doesn't have unnecessary drama. We don't rig stories. Also, the best judges have always been on this show," he explained.
Recently, Amaal's post on his Instagram account about a remixed song made headlines. Many thought it was a potshot at the recently released song Poster Chapwa Do. However, Mallik clarified his stance and said, "It's a dig at all the badly produced remix songs which have also entered 2019. I believe there should be a balance of remix songs and originals. If I had only remixed songs in my journey then I wouldn't have been the judge of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa."
On a parting note, Amaal who is currently the romantic music sensation in the country also shed a light on his personal life. Despite producing so many romantic singles we know nothing about his romantic life. Point this out to him, and he quips, "Because it is personal." After thinking a bit, he added, "I'm a fan of Salman so I'll get married in the age 30-40." On a serious note, he said, "I'm a hopeless romantic so if I love it'll be everywhere. However, I don't want to focus on my personal life right now. Currently, I'm just committed to music."
