Karan Singh Grover has entered Ekta Kapoor's popular daily soap Kasautii Zindagii Kay. In the reboot of iconic romantic saga for 2000, Karan reprises in the role of Mr Bajaj, a character earlier played by Ronit Roy. The role is integral for the show and an iconic one as well. It is quite obvious that parallels will be drawn between the two actors. In fact, almost all characters have been through a round of comparisons, right from Prerna which was earlier played by Shweta Tiwari and now by Erica Fernandes to Komolika, earlier played by Urvashi Dholakia and now portrayed by Hina Khan. In fact, Karan is the only who has been a part of both versions. So, it was quite obvious that when we sat down for an exclusive conversation with the actor, we had to ask him about his favourites.
We asked the actor, who according to him does a better portrayal of Prerna and Komolika. To which Karan replied, "Shweta Tiwari as Prerna and as an actor is very intense. There are not many people who can be compared to her." Talking about Urvashi Dholakia playing Komolika he added, "Urvashi portrayed Komolika with such panache and such style that you can't really think anyone can do better than that." He further continued, "Having said that, the way Erica is playing Prerna is in dimension to the character. And the manner in which Hina portrayed Komolika is also on a different level. She plays it with such ease and style. You cannot say who is better. Maybe the viewers watching it will be able to make this decision, but we actors cannot really compare each other.”
Well, that is indeed a valid point made by Karan. While talking about comparisons of his character to that of Ronit Roy's version of Mr Bajaj, KSG had said in a statement, "Comparisons are bound to happen and it is good. But I will stay away from it. I will just concentrate on performing as the new age Mr Bajaj. I need to pay attention to my performance. I believe in staying true to the story, the writing, the character that you are playing."
