TV actress Shrenu Parikh, who was last seen in Ishqbaaaz, is quite pepped about her upcoming daily Ek Bhram-Sarvagun Sampanna. The actress plays Janhvi Mittal, an idol bahu who has shades of grey concealed behind her perfect facade. The makers took the actress to Udaipur, to a 1000-year-old temple for the launch of the new show. As we sit down with Shrenu for an exclusive conversation, amidst the heavy winds in Rajasthan, the actress spills the beans on her come back, “I'm returning with a bang, as dhamakedar as Ishqbaaaz.”
Shrenu, who has always played docile characters in her TV career, will portray a negative lead for the first time. The actress reveals that she accepted the role only for her own creative satisfaction. “It wasn't for anyone else, but my personal interest in it. I wanted to do something like this. And now that I have got it, I want to do justice to it.” Talking about the preparations for her role of Janhvi Mittal, she adds, “I have never done theatre ever, but I tried and took workshops. and that's what helped me to embrace Janhvi's character.” Shrenu apparently also binged on films to understand the nuances of negative characters.
In an earlier interview Shrenu had confessed that she has been mimicking TV characters Tulsi and Parvati. Ask her if those old days of mimicry helped her prepare for this role and Shrenu says, “You can say that, it helped me! But I want this character to be mimicked by the audience, I want them to believe it's a benchmark for me.” So does she aspire Janhvi Mittal to turn as iconic as Tulsi and Parvati? Shrenu retorts, “Definitely! I want it to be as iconic as Tulsi and Parvati. Who doesn't want to be?”
Talking about her character Janhvi, Shrenu reveals that it is quite a realistic role. And while there are a lot of super natural characters like Naagin and Daayan ruling the small screen, we joked with Shrenu if there is a similar shade to her character and the actress replied, “Not at all. Even if I do, I won't be Naagin but a bat-woman. If you want to bring fantasy into this, then let's play with something else.”
Ek Bhram-Sarvagun Sampanna boasts of an interesting cast and Shrenu tags her co-actors as a ‘good looking team’. “Everyone has their own fan following and they will unite to watch the show. Zain has crazy fandom and he brings amazing energy on the sets. Then there's Tina and Tanvi too, who are great additions. I have also learnt a lot from Ayub Khan. So, we have a lot of fun on the sets,” says Shrenu.
Lastly, we asked the leading lady about the hype around the show being inspired from true events. “Even I read it somewhere. I have no idea if it is and I'm not even willing to know. Because, If I get to know, I'll sort of take inspiration,” concludes Shrenu.
Ek Bhram-Sarvagun Sampanna premieres on April 22.
