It wouldn't be wrong to say that the Indian television is here to stay despite emergence of various OTT platforms. A certain section may have switched to different mediums to fulfill their daily dose of entertainment, but a large section of loyal audience still entertain themselves by watching a variety of shows on television. While these TV shows become household names, they also make headlines for all the wrong reasons. So without much ado, let's take a look at the major spats of Indian TV shows that left their fans shocked and disappointed.
The biggest controversy, so far, that happened on the sets of Indian Idol was the time when Anu Malik was replaced by Himesh Reshammiya after the former stepped down as judge from Indian Idol 11 following MeToo allegations that were levelled against him by singers Sona Mohapatra, Neha Bhasin and Shweta Pandit. He was given a clean chit by the National Commission For Women (NCW) due to the lack of evidence in the matter. He was brought back on Indian Idol 12 as one of the guests along with lyricist Sameer Anjaan and veteran singer Udit Narayan.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
Fan or not, but we are all aware of this one-liner 'Aye, Pagal Aurat' from Dilip Joshi aka Jethalal from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The line was improvised and delivered spontaneously by Dilip while shooting a scene where Dayaben aka Disha Vakani was saying something ridiculous. However, this one-liner had landed him in trouble with some women’s liberation movement who forbid him from using the said line on the show.
The Kapil Sharma Show
Kapil Sharma Sunil Grover
Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover's mid-air brawl that took place a few years ago can be touted as the biggest fight ever on television. Post their ugly fight, Sunil decided to break ties with Kapil. He walked out of the show leaving fans yearning for him. And the show lost some of its essence forever.
Khatron Ke Khiladi
rohit shetty and tejasswi prakash
Host Rohit Shetty had lost his cool on Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 contestant Tejasswi Prakash who had openly accused the Sooryavanshi director of favouring Amruta Khanvilkar in front of the other contestants. Her actions certainly didn't go down well with Rohit who threatened to oust Tejasswi from the show for her misbehaviour.
Salman Khan was very annoyed by Zubair Khan's behaviour on Bigg Boss 11. From being rude and disrespectful towards women to passing lewd remarks against them, Zubair had stepped in as the so-called dada of season 11. Salman had asked Zubair to leave the show and even forbid him from calling him Bhai. After his showdown with Salman, Zubair had taken sleeping pills inside the house and was rushed out of the premises. He had also filed a case against Salman for lashing out at him. Later, he withdrew the case because his mother didn't want him to pursue the matter.
