Can you imagine the conviction it takes to play a villain with no words, no expressions and still instill fear and hatred for the character among the audience? Well, lot would be an understatement. But the multi-talented Vladimir Furdik did it and how! Even though his part in Game of Thrones comes to an end, he will be remembered in the history of the cult series as the mighty and terrifying Night King. Those who followed all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones will know that he made limited number of appearances and hasn't uttered a word. Yet he was considered as the biggest threat to mortals in Westeros, that lead so many forces to join hands and make the impossible, possible. Night King has remained a mystery all the while, until we knew a little about his origin through Bran Stark's visions after he became the three-eyed raven. And the rest of it was revealed by Vladimir Furdik himself in an interaction with Entertainment Weekly.
Here are 5 things you should know about the Night King...
"People will see he has a target he wants to kill, and you will find out who that is."
"I think he wants revenge. Everybody in this story has two sides—a bad side and a good side. The Night King only has one side, a bad side."
How did he come into existence?
"Somebody made him the Night King. Nobody knows who he was before—a soldier or part of [nobility]. He never wanted to be the Night King."
What are his special powers?
He can reanimate the dead as blue-eyed zombies that join his ever increasing army of the dead. He can turn living babies into White Walkers too.
How does he die?
As we have seen the W
hite Walkers are powerless when they are burnt in fire. Jon Snow and Samwell tarly also noted that they can be killed by Valyrian steel and dragonglass. Night King was however an exception to teh fire rule. We saw in episode 3 that he remained unfazed when Daenerys Targaryen's dragon tried to roast him in fire.
If that is TMI (too much information), scan through these pictures below and see how Vladimir Furdik transformed into the the deadly Night King through prosthetics.
Meanwhile the teaser of GoT episode 4 has set the tone for what to expect next after The Long Night is over. "We have won the great war, now we will win the last war," says Daenerys Targaryen with a smile on her face. Especially after how Cersei Lannister betrayed them after promising to fight together against the army of the dead. VIDEO
