So this is it. Game of Thrones finale is just few hours away and there are a thousand emotions running through the mind of all GoT enthusiasts. Right now it's more of excitement and anticipation, but when you look back at the previous 7 seasons, you'll agree there were a myriad of emotions you felt - sadness, dread, joy, elation and a lot more. The final Battle of Winterfell will see the union of all the surviving characters of the HBO series viz Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Cersei Lannister, Jamie Lannister, Tyrion Lannister among others. How many will be dead, how many will survive, who will defeat the Night King and his White Walkers, who will get to sit on the Iron Throne? All questions will be finally answered in the brutal series that will culminate in 6 episodes.
It is a mixed feeling for the cast members of Game of Thrones, many of whom have been a part of the series for 10 years since the beginning. Speaking to InStyle, Kit Harington who plays Jon Snow revealed that while the previous 10 episode-long seasons were shot in six months, the six episodes of season 8 required nine months. "You’d come in (on prior seasons) for a week and be off for two weeks. But I was there the whole time this year. I barely left Belfast. For the last couple of seasons I’ve done more days than anyone else because of the nature of my character. There are just a lot of the battles and the action sequences," he said.
Recalling the last scene he shot for Game of Thrones, Harington said, "I think I got my final day changed about 18 times, to the point where I didn’t know when it was. I was like, ‘Just don’t tell me.’ Then it came, and I had that final scene, which was very average. I was just walking somewhere with Liam (Cunningham) and Jacob (Anderson, who plays Grey Worm). It couldn’t have been more of a wet fart of a scene, but I completely broke down after it. I'd seen Peter Dinklage do his last scene earlier in the day, and he broke down. I’d been at other people’s wraps, like Sophie Turner’s. You just saw them collapse. And it happened to me. It was a beautifully weighted ending. Then it was like, ‘Okay, I’m actually done with this show. I love it. It’s my pride and joy, and it’s been a pleasure to be a part of it, but I’m done.’”
That sure sounds rough, but in all probability it is not the final scene. "I still don’t trust that the ending that was written down is the actual ending. I think they kept it from all of us. The secrecy this year was just huge. No one I’ve spoken to has guessed the actual ending. No one has got it right yet," added Harington.
Well it is not very long before we will discover the ending ourselves.
