Mayuri Deshmukh spoke about her show, Imlie and said that she never wanted to be part of the over the top Hindi dramas. She revealed how she ignored when the makers tried to approach her for the show. The actress said that it took a lot of convincing for the makers to get me for the show. Mayuri said, "I had a preconceived notion about Hindi serials being too melodramatic. Plus, mine was not the lead role too and I had only done projects as lead. I didn’t want my Marathi fans to think and say ki Marathi serials mein toh itne achhe roles karti hai Hindi serial mein jaa ke itne chhota sa role kyun kar rahi hai. So when I got the script during the look test, I told the makers that I will perform this my way, which was being as natural as possible. I was sure that the makers were going to reject me for that. But as luck would have it, they approved it. What clicked me more was that the makers said that if I don’t like this project, they had three other ones from which I could choose. This kind of respect and graciousness was quite a lot for an actor like me. They didn’t have any ego and I said yes and made my Hindi TV debut."
Mayuri also said that the team of Imlie have the right kind of humanity and right kind of professionalism.
