Indian Idol 12 has been in the news for all negative reasons. The Amit Kumar episode garnered a lot of negativity for the show. The singer went on to say that he was forced to praise the contestants but he did not like their performances. The host of the show, Aditya Narayan defended the show by saying that Amit Kumar could have told them. Also, Shanmukhapriya is known for her variations. She also sings in a very high-pitched voice. Shanmukhapriya sang a couple of numbers like Chori chori from Kareeb and Senorita from ZNMD. Fans are very upset and expressed their annoyance at her now repetitive style of singing. They trolled her and even said that she should be removed from the show.
The 17-year-old has now responded to the trolling and said she takes online hate with a pinch of salt. She said in an interview with Yo!Vizag that she came to know about the happenings only after a few of her well-wishers reached out to her. She tried to take the trolls with a pinch of salt. Shanmukha Priya’s mother Ratnamala has been her constant support in the show. She has also reacted to these trolls. She said, "Shanmukha is trying to experiment with genres. As far as the choice of songs is concerned, all the contestants in Indian Idol perform the tracks given to them by the showrunners. Despite receiving criticism, she has been fortunate to get double the love and affection from the viewers." Shanmukha said she will try and put her best efforts to showcase her skills in the coming rounds.
Earlier, host Aditya Narayan in an interview with Spotboye spoke about the contestants being trolled. He said it’s good that they are getting to know the harsh reality of the world outside the reality show. “As their fans grow, so will the critics. It is inevitable,” said Aditya.
