Singer Sona Mohapatra, who had accused Anu Malik of sexual misconduct during the MeToo wave in India, is unhappy with the fact that the music composer is still being given shelter by the makers of Indian Idol 12. She has once again highlighted the sexual harassment allegations against Anu Malik and called him a 'serial sexual predator' while slamming the makers of the singing reality show for reinstating him. Praising veteran actress Rekha for her bringing the 'sad' show alive with her presence, Sona tweeted, "Happy to see #Rekha , a fine artist & sparkling woman giving a boost to a sad music reality show on social media. Why sad?What would U call a show that kept a known serial sexual predator & pervert on its payroll year after year?Anu Malik.Doesn’t even deserve a hashtag, #India." Anu Malik had stepped down as judge from Indian Idol 10 after growing outcry against him over allegations of sexual harassment, levelled by Sona Mohapatra. Singers Neha Bhasin and Shweta Pandit, too, had accused him of sexual misconduct in the past. Singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya had replaced Anu Malik as judge on the show. However, Sony TV had reinstated Anu Malik on Indian Idol 11 after he was given a clean chit by the National Commission For Women (NCW) due to the lack of evidence in the matter. He was brought back on Indian Idol 12 as one of the guests along with lyricist Sameer Anjaan and veteran singer Udit Narayan.
Rekha recently graced the sets of Indian Idol 12. She brought loads of warmth and heaped praises on the contestants and the judges. We saw Idol Pawandeep Rajan crooning to Rekha's hit romantic song 'Aapki Ankhon Mein Kuch' song from her movie, Ghar co-starring late actor Vinod Mehra.
