Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms Pvt Ltd brought a new twist in the tale of its Naagin franchise when they introduced werewolves and vampires in the show called Kuch Toh Hai - Naagin Ek Naye Rang Mein. It featured Krishna Mukherjee and Harsh Rajputh in the lead role. A weekend show, Kuch Toh Hai aired its first episode in February. And it went off-air on Sunday, 21st March 2021. Yes, for those not in the know, Kuch Toh Hai will now not air any new episode from next week onwards. If you had been looking forward to the next episode, sorry to burst your bubble. Krishna Mukherjee who rose to fame as Aliya in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein played the lead role of Priya in Kuch Toh Hai. The actress opened up on the TV show going off-air so soon, future plans and the concept of the show.
While talking to ETimes, Krishna Mukherjee aka Priya of Kuch Toh Hai expressed her disappointment when the channel pulled the plug on the show. "Our show started on February 7 and I feel it was too premature to take it off air in just one and half months. It was important that the characters establish a connect with audience and then if the story didn’t click, they could have taken a decision. It was a new cast and we all deserved a little more time to make a connect," the actress said. For the unversed, Krishna has been a part of the Naagin franchise before too. She was seen as Tamsi in the third season of Naagin wherein Surbhi Jyoti and Pearl V Puri played the lead role alongside Anita Hassanandani.
Elaborating on the concept of werewolves and vampires in the show, Krishna Mukherjee said, "After five seasons of naagins, the makers decided to do something different and experiment with the concept of vampires and wolves, but viewers did not warm up to it. I feel people still want to watch saas-bahu sagas on television and even if shows come up with slightly different scripts, the saas-bahu angle is predominantly a part of every show. Audiences are just not ready to watch something different."
Krishna made a shocking revelation when she said that she wasn't aware that she would be playing Naagin on the show. The actress, however, feels grateful to the production house for giving her the opportunity to play Priya in Kuch Toh Hai. Heaping praises on the same and talking about their future projects, Krishna Mukherjee said, "It is a dream for every actress to play a lead role and I gave it my best. It was a learning experience and felt like working with family because I have worked with the production house before. I am looking forward to newer beginnings, hopefully, something more interesting will come up. We will work even more hard to connect with audiences in the future."
