The industry was shocked today early morning with the shocking demise of actor Kushal Punjabi, who was just 37 years old. While the nature or reason for his death was initially not known, reports later surfaced that the actor had committed suicide as he was suffering from severe depression due to an ongoing financial crisis and his failed marriage, but had managed to keep his struggles concealed from family and close friends. His close friend and fellow actor, Chetan Hansraj, confirmed the suicide report to Times now, highlighting how he and Kushal's parents had found the latter's body.
"I went to his apartment last night, had called the key maker to open the door, his mother and father too were with me. When we opened the door, we saw....(pauses)...takes a deep breath...It all happened too fast."
On being asked if Kushal was facing any issues, Hansraj sounded perplexed, steadfast in the knowledge that the actor had never shown any troubling signs.
"No, never. He was always positive, a fighter, very strong as a person. What he did and why he did is beyond understanding. Samajh mein nahi aa raha hai kya ho gaya yeh duniya ko. (Can't understand what has happened to this world)."
With it being verified by the police that a suicide note was found near Kushal Punjabi's cadaver, everyone wanted to know if it contained the reason behind such a drastic step and, more pertinently, if he had blamed anyone for his suicide. However, in a report by a leading entertainment portal, DCP Paramjit Singh Dahiya denied that anyone was held accountable, with Senior Police Office Vijaylaxmi Hiremath reiterating his statement, adding that none of Kushal's relatives have also lodged a complaint.
Kushal Punjabi is survived by his wife and 3-year old son, Kian. BollywoodLife extends its heartfelt condolences to the entire family.
