TV actress Nia Sharma feels she has finally entered the big league of the TV circuit. The 29-year-old is going to be a part of Ekta Kapoor's supernatural drama, Naagin – Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel, a report we broke first. The show, in its fourth season, will see Sharma playing a character named Brinda. Recently, when Sharma got into an exclusive chat with BollywoodLife, the Ishq Mein Marjawan actress spoke about the aura the show has already built for her.
While Nia couldn’t believe when she got the confirmation for the bi-weekly show, her mother, who was the first person Nia shared the news with, was ecstatic. "She said great and she kind of knew (it) all along. She was of course very happy as it is a big deal on television. In fact, I remember she told me, 'You’ll be back to routine now and you won't be sucking my blood,'" Nia laughed. Not many would be aware that Sharma wasn't quite happy with the way her look test for the show panned out. "I wasn’t really happy and satisfied with my look test," she shared, "I went away with no expectations. I did not expect this call, (and I thought) there's no way I'm getting this role. And there are way better girls (than me) out there to do this (role). But anyhow, I was damn excited as I wanted to know if not me, who would it be?"
Talking about the process of getting locked, Sharma revealed that she did not even ask for a story narration for the show. "This is my first show where I’ve signed the contract without getting any narration. I didn't take any narration for the show. They told me that you are a part of Naagin and I was like alright, let's do this." Nia Sharma, who kickstarted her career in 2010 with a supporting role in a TV show, is quite proud of herself bagging the show. "During the narration, I just said in my head that 'Thank you God for another big one'. (Then) I pat my back and said 'Proud of you bro'," she divulged.
Along with Nia, the show also features Jasmin Bhasin and Vijayendra Kumeria. However, the actress hasn't shot much with the two yet. "It is a new set up. It’s my first few days. We haven't shot together." Calling Jasmin "a chill girl" Nia also added that she only gets along with people who have the same vibe as she does. "As a female actor, I know my vibe and my professional strength. I’m somebody who will not lock horns with any co-actor. Because I believe you take what you give. Plus, you know yourself. If you have a good company you chill or if you don’t, you remain in your vanity," she explained.
While the fourth season features Nia Sharma and Jasmin Bhasin as the shape-shifting snakes, the first two seasons starred Mouni Roy. The actress turned out to be a phenomenon on TV which led to her transition to Bollywood. "The only cake somebody has taken away is Mouni Roy and nobody else," an awed Nia shared, "She has done the best. She killed it look wise. I looked at her and thought 'Man there’s nobody looking as hot as her'." Nia is competing with Mouni in a ‘healthy’ way. "I take inspiration and say that if she can, then even I will work hard so that I will also look as bang on as the character."
Earlier, in an exclusive conversation with BollywoodLife, Roy had shared that Naagin is a lucky show for the actors. Share this with Nia and the actress quickly quipped, "I’m only realizing that I’m heading in an upward track. Things will only get better with this. Things that I had to fight earlier will now be in my lap. People who did not consider me for something will now consider me now. A few things that I was missing will now be in my platter."
An excited Nia finally shared that she wishes to be called for every event, every show, every dance performance. "I want to smash it this year and appear everywhere," she concluded.
