Kaun Banega Crorepati is one game show that has changed the lives of many. One of the beneficiaries of the knowledge based show was Ravi Mohan Saini. At the age of 14, he went on to win Rs one crore at the Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Junior contest. This was in 2001. Now, 19 years later, he is back in the news. Dr Ravi Mohan Saini has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police at Porbandar. He took charge on Tuesday after serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Rajkot, Gujarat. Talking about his new role, he told Hindustan Times, "My role would be the implementation of lockdown in Porbandar in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, the law and order situation remains our topmost priority."
As we know, the coronavirus pandemic is the biggest crisis in front of the nation right now. States like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Telangana are seeing a high number of cases. Cops along with doctors, healthcare and sanitation workers are the frontline warriors in this fight. Gujarat has been badly by the virus and the death rate is also quite high. Ravi Mohan Saini was in the tenth standard when he took part in KBC Junior, one of India's most popular reality shows. In 2017, he told The Times Of India, "I was the winner of Rs 1 crore. However, I got Rs 69 lakh after deduction of taxes, four years later." His picture with Amitabh Bachchan has now become viral on news channels.
He got the prize money when he turned 18. After finishing his schooling, Saini enrolled in the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College in Jaipur for his MBBS. After that, he cleared the UPSC exams. Saini was always keen to work in the civil services. His father served in the navy and is his inspiration. Saini is 33 years old now. We wish him the best in this new endeavour!
