In a sad turn of events, TV actress Preksha Mehta committed suicide in her home in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The young lady, 25, had worked in shows like Crime Patrol, Laal Ishq and Meri Durga. She came home to Indore from Mumbai as the lockdown set in. It seems she was depressed due to this lockdown and losing out on work. The indefinite delay has worsened her mental state as per reports. She ended her life hanging herself from a fan in her room on Monday. The body was found by a relative the next day. She was an alumni of the Madhya Pradesh School of Drama.
In a cryptic note on Instagram, she posted that there was nothing worse than seeing your dreams die. As per SpotboyE, Rajeev Bhadoriya, the Hira Nagar police station in-charge said, "Preksha was a TV actor and was in the city since the lockdown. We are investigating the case further to know the reason of her suicide." This comes just days after Manmeet Grewal ended his life in Kamothe, Navi Mumbai. He was a casting director and an actor. It seems he did not get his payment for months and was struggling to meet his expenses in the city.
Karan Kundrra and Arjun Bijlani have mourned the death of Preksha Mehta on Twitter. Kundrra wrote, "A look at her Instagram shows nothing out of the ordinary, which just shows how much more we need to care about people around us in these tough times and not just assume they’re fine! RIP little one, we shall pray for you! This too shall pass!"
The actress' death is a reminder of how this lockdown is playing havoc with people's minds. And mental health is one issue that cannot be pushed under the carpet!
