Zee TV's popular show Kumkum Bhagya is all set to take a generation leap. The 20-year jump will bring major changes in the plot of the daily soap. Abhi (Shabir Ahluwalia) and Pragya (Sriti Jha) will be separated and along with them their twins will be split too. Now as per a media report, the two actresses to play the female leads have been finalised. Splitsvilla winner Naina Singh and TV actress Mugdha Chapekar have been roped in to portray the roles of Abhi and Pragya's twin daughters. While Mugdha will play Prachi, Naina's character goes by the name of Rhea.
Earlier Kirtida Mistry, who has been part of shows like Piya Rangrezz and Vikram Betaal Ki Rahasya Gaatha was supposed to do Prachi's character. However, Mugdha came on board as a last-minute addition, replacing Kirtida.
While talking to a portal, Kirtida reacted to being replaced, she said “The makers never gave any confirmation to me. So, I don't know if they have finalised anyone else to play the role."
Mugdha who has been a part of shows like Solhah Singaarr, Dharti Ka Veer Yoddha Prithviraj Chauhan, Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo, Satrangi Sasural, and was last seen in Colors’ medical drama Savitri Devi College and Hospital, will return to the TV space with Kumkum Bhagya, while Naina was last seen in an acting based reality show, India's Next Superstar.
