Women's Day 2021: Dil Mill Gayye's Palki Malhotra reflects on how the 'Tulsis' and 'Anupamaas' have defined women on TV

Dil Mill Gayye, Dill Dostii Dance, Yeh Teri Galliyan, Girls on Top, Pavitra Bhagya's showrunner and creative director Palki Malhotra has been a been a strong influential woman behind the camera, weaving her magic for over 24 years to give some iconic and memorable shows. She has been a part of the industry for more than two decades now and has seen various transitions take place in regards to the content and characterization that TV has steadily been trying to evolve over the years, specially in connection to the roles of women which she feels have been wholistically portrayed on the small screen, exploring women in every aspect, every shade, every avatar. Today, on international women's day, Palki Malhotra opened up about how television has actually been an inspiration for people to understand the portrayal of women in a much better manner. Palki Malhotra said, "In my opinion, television is the only medium which has explored women in every aspect. Over the years we have seen so many shades of women and their respective journeys. Right from a 'Tulsi' to an 'Anupamaa', we have seen women play multiple roles in our society. No matter what the era, characters from the small screen have inspired viewers to understand women as a whole. So on this Women's Day, I would like to thank television for this amazingly holistic approach that it has to offer."
