Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’s new love story is about to begin. Kartik and Naira aka #Kaira became the most loved couple of telly town. They have a crazy fan following but the death of Naira in the show had left everyone disappointed. However, Shivangi returned with a new character in the show. She now plays Sirat Shikhawat who has entered Kartik’s life. Sirat is a boxer and looks exactly same like Naira. Shivangi Joshi has given her best performance in the show every time. Her character in the show has always had so many different layers but she has impressed us every time with her brilliant performance. As Naira, she was an ace dancer who owned a dance academy and now as Sirat, she is a boxer. Shivangi Joshi learnt boxing for her new character and had even shared how difficult it was to learn the sport.
Now, she has again spoken about learning boxing for her new character, Sirat. Shivangi said, "This was my first trist with boxing and I must tell you it requires alot of physical and mental balance to do boxing. I train 2 hours each day post pack up under a boxing trainer. I realised that boxing also has alot to do with mind presence and on spot calculations. One wrong move and you can get yourself hurt badly." She also revealed that playing a new character in the same show was a challenge. She said, "Honestly when I was just told that Naira will die in the show, I automatically had tears rolling down my cheeks and it is my mother who told me not to cry when I realised the tears. The emotions for Naira was that strong and repelling. Playing Naira for good 4 years plus and then to get into another character was surely a challenge. People loved Naira and our jodi Kaira with Mohsin. It was a big enough challenge for me to pull my new character Sirat off, but I guess people liked that as we had a decent rise in the trps as well, thanks to the makers and their great storyline."
She was also asked if she feared being forever known as this character from the show after playing the same role for so many years. Shivangi Joshi shared,"A classic example would be the current situation, while I know Naira will always live in me and in audience's heart, I have received alot of love and gratitude from the audience for Sirat's character. My social media messages is full of them and I go through each and every message of the fans. Their love is unconditional and I am grateful for that."
