Bollywood power couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are once again in the spotlight, and this time for their new advertisement promoting Abu Dhabi. In the Advertisement, the couple is seen exploring the city’s beauty and culture and they were praising its rich heritage. The ad has now sparked a strong wave of mixed reactions online, with social media users divided into two teams over the content and Deepika’s look in particular.
In the ad, Ranveer Singh is seen admiring the details of a sculpture, saying, “90 AD... can you imagine this level of detailing in 90 AD? Sometimes I wonder, what would my pose be if they made a statue of me.” To this, Deepika responds, “You definitely deserve to be in a museum,” adding a playful charm to the video.
Later, Deepika is shown visiting the iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, She was seen dressed gracefully in a traditional abaya and hijab to honour the sanctity of the site. Ranveer complements her look with a sherwani and neatly groomed beard. The two look perfect.
Many fans appreciated the ad’s aesthetic and cultural representation, but others were extremely critical. One user praised Deepika, writing, “She’s definitely the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in a hijab,” while another commented, “The most handsome Ranveer and the cutest Deepika.”
She was not everyone was impressed. Some users accused the actors of not promoting India in a similar way. Comments like, “They never promote India like this,” and “Islamic grooming has begun,” reflected a section of netizens’ discontent. Another user recalled Deepika’s past feminist campaign, writing, “What happened to ‘My Choice’? Now Deepika's promoting Abu Dhabi wearing a hijab.”
