Mumbai: The Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) has filed a police complaint against a few paparazzi and online media pages for their 'inhuman' and 'unethical' behaviour while covering veteran actor Dharmendra’s recent health scare. In a letter to the Senior Inspector of Juhu Police Station, IFTDA President Ashoke Pandit said that some photographers and online accounts violated the family’s privacy by entering Dharmendra’s home and filming his family members without permission. These clips were later shared widely on social media. IFTDA urged the police to take strict action and set an example so such incidents don’t happen again.
This complaint comes at a time when many people are already upset over the way the media handled Dharmendra’s hospitalisation. The 89-year-old actor was recently discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after a brief illness.
Sunny Deol’s Emotional Outburst
Earlier in the day, Sunny Deol lost his cool at photographers waiting outside their home. Visibly shaken and emotional, he folded his hands and said, “Aap logon ko sharam aani chahiye… Aapke ghar mein maa-baap, bacche hain…” His reaction reflected the family’s pain.
Industry Voices Support the Deols
Many from the film industry also spoke up. Karan Johar shared a note on Instagram calling the constant intrusion a 'media circus” and said it was heartbreaking to see such a lack of basic courtesy and sensitivity. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also urged the media to respect the Deol family’s privacy and give them the peace they deserve during such a difficult time.
