There are rumors going on about Sajid Khan returning as a director in the industry. Seven years ago, the director had faced me too, with allegations against him by actors and journalists. Because of that, he faced the Federation of Western India Cine Employees’ ban for a year. The ban ended in 2019, and now there are speculations about him being in talks with Zee Studios to helm a rom-com. How true those speculations are is something only time will tell, but the rumor in the industry is that the upcoming film will be a debut for Govinda’s son Yashvardhan Ahuja. Rumor has it that the untitled film will have Nitanshi Goel of ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and Krithi Shetty as the female leads.
According to Mid-Day, an insider told them, “Sajid has been approached by the studio, but he hasn’t said yes yet. The studio heads are keen to have him helm the film, as the comedy elements are right up his alley. Yashvardhan has another project with Phantom Studios, but he is likely to start shooting for this first. Sajid was earlier to direct a film with John Abraham, but that didn’t work out.”
If the rumors are true, then the film will be a remake of a famous South Indian rom-com.
At midday, they tried to approach both Zee Studios and Sajid Khan; however, they did not reply in time.
Sajid Khan’s earlier appearances
In 2022, Sajid Khan was a participant in Bigg Boss 16’. As per reports, during that time, Delhi Commission for Women’s chief Swati Maliwal wrote a letter to the then-Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur, demanding his removal from the show. According to her, letting a sexual predator participate in a national prime-time show would give him an undeserving opportunity to whitewash his image.
Sajid Khan Me Too allegations
Sajid Khan, the prominent director, has been accused of sexual harassment. The allegations have come from multiple women, starting with Saloni Chopra in October 2018, when India’s #MeToo movement was going on. Later on, more women came up with their stories, including Karishma Upadhyay, Sherlyn Chopra, Rachel White, Mandana Karimi, Aahana Kumra, and more. They alleged that the director made inappropriate advances, demands, exposure, and lewd comments towards them. As a consequence, he stepped away from Housefull 4, and the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) suspended him from directing for a year. The most recent allegation towards him was in 2025, when TV actress Navina Bole added a new allegation, where she said that the director had asked her to “take off clothes and sit in lingerie” during a meeting.
