Shruti Haasan is one of the few actresses from the industry who've never shied away from speaking her mind, and in a recent candid conversation, one such discussion came to light where she was discussing the hypocrisy and standards women face in the industry. The actor shared the amount of backlash and comments she received after openly admitting to getting cosmetic surgeries done.
Speaking to THR India, Shruti recalled the negativity she faced. "When I spoke up, I got comments like,'oh, yeh to plastic surgery ki dukaan hai.'But I know what and how much I have done, and how much more others have. That's the price you pay for honesty. It is okay. And I never promote it. This is my choice."
For Shruti, the decision was extremely personal, and she was quick to make a point that her choices were never meant to influence anyone. "In love, in life, in work, fingers will always be pointed at you for blowing the whistle or speaking the truth or calling something out for what it is. But what a good price to pay," she remarked.
On the professional side, Shruti is currently basking in the success of Coolie, her latest collaboration with superstar Rajinikanth. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the action-packed drama has caused a storm at the box office, crossing the Rs 400 crore mark globally since its release on 14 August. The film has been called one of the year's biggest Tamil hits. The film, alongside the superstar, also features Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Upendra, and Aamir Khan, with Nagarjuna and Soubin Shahir in key roles.
