In an interview with The Screen, Anupam opened up about one of his toughest times in his life. Back in 1983, he lived in a small room with his mother, brother, and two friends. The rent was ₹2,100, overdue for almost three months. When he couldn’t pay it, the landlord threw their belongings out. “The landlord kept our luggage outside. I remember sleeping on the beach on a newspaper because there was no place to stay,” he recalled.
When He Faced Humiliation During a Film Narration
Anupam also shared another painful memory. A producer once offered him a role with a signing amount but the situation quickly turned degrading.
“He wanted me to act out every line during the narration, if it was raining, I had to pretend it was raining; if there was wind, I had to act like I was being blown away,” Anupam said.
The producer even teased him by placing a bundle of cash next to him, only to pull it away each time he reached for it. “That was the humiliation,” the actor admitted.
